The St. Andrew POPS have planned their first event. This will be a
PUMPKIN FEST
OCTOBER 27 AT 11:30AM
6 HILLENDALE FARM RD
WESTERLY, RI
Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic lunch with you preschooler. Then
take a hayride through the farm property and return to choose a pump-
kin to take home. Enjoy apple cider and cookies while visiting the horses
and chickens. Cost is $3 per child. *Pre-registration is required.

*Extended day parents are responsible for securing transportation for their child. If your child cannot go the teachers will stay at school with them.

**PASTOR JIM will be taking portraits for anyone who missed them the first time. Monday, October 31 at 9:00. If you are interested please let Miss Kerry know.

School Portraits are this week. (Tuesday and Wednesday morning and also Tuesday evening)
If you would still like to sign your child up for portraits it is not too late. Just let a teacher know and bring in your sitting form sheet and a check for the sitting fee.

We will also be having fire drills this month. We are hoping to have a fireman come to school and bring a firetruck. The fireman will talk about fire safety. Please talk with your child about our fire drills if you feel they need to know ahead of time. We will have more information about the fireman visiting later this week.

Hello All,
School is off to a great start. We have been talking to the children about sharing and what kind of activities are available in our classroom. The children have also been learning the rules and routine of the day. Next week we will be sharing a story from our children's Bible. This story is about how much Jesus loves the little children.

We have a few important reminders:

Please remember to apply bug spray and sun screen

A teacher will greet you at the front door at 8:45. The door is locked at 9:00. Please go to back door by playground and tap on window if you are late. A teacher will let you in. This will help the office because they usually cannot get to the door.

If anyone would like to add another day please let a teacher know. We have a few spots available.

The first movie night is October 1 from 5-8. The theme is Jonah and the Whale (Veggie Tales). The sign up is on information table.

Our first parent gathering is on Thursday, September 22 at 6:30.

Welcome Back Everyone! We hope you had a relaxing vacation. We will be having our first preschool education night on Tuesday, March 1 from 5:30-6:30. Thank you to our parent advisory group for their help with this event.

The next movie night is this Friday at 5:00. It is a penguin theme night. Please sign up on information table if you are interested.

The children will be starting a nutrition unit this week. Our snack even has a color theme. Have your child tell you what color snack we are having this week. The children will be making food collages and even making menus for our restaurant in the family living area.

Hello Everyone,
Winter is here!! Please remember to dress your child warm. We will go out unless the temperature is under 20 degrees.

The children have been learning all about the true meaning of Christmas. They have been acting out the Christmas story. We will be adding the Wisemen and Shepards to our story this week.

Everyone is invited to our Christmas Eve Worship Service. This is a service that is for families with young children. The preschoolers will be singing at this service. Pastor Lisa has been coming into our class to practice. We will also have a birthday party for Jesus during the service.

Our last day of school before vacation will be Friday, December 17. We will return to school on January 3. Have a relaxing and safe holiday.

Welcome to another school year!! Here are a few important reminders:

Preschool first family picnic on Tuesday, September 7 from 5:00-6:30. Please RSVP whether you are attending or not.
New Family Parent Orientation immediately following picnic.
An Open House for the children will be on Friday, September 10. To allow movement around the room we are asking families to come for a 1 hour allotted time slot. Families with the last name beginning with the letters A-H from 9:00-10:00 and letters I-Z from 10:00-11:00;
Health and Emergency forms are due before your child can start school. All other forms are due on your child's first day.
Opening first day of school is Monday, September 13.

Hello Everyone,
Sorry it has been a while since we have been able to update our blog. Thank you to everyone who had friends and relatives send letters. The children have enjoyed seeing where the letters have come from. They also heard from Pastor Jim and Pastor Lisa on their Sabbatical. They were in Texas and also Handuras. They will be returning to work on April 28. We also heard from Miss Peggy on Water Island. She will be back to school in April.

Our Family Potluck Dinner will be on Monday, March 22 from 5:30-7:00. Don't forget to sign up if you are planning on attending.

The children have been learning about healthy eating. They have also been learning about how to take care of their teeth. We now have a restaurant set up in our classroom. Please ask your child about it.

Hello Everyone,
The teachers have been busy working on child assessments. A narrative report will be given out this week unless your child started after November. There will also be a sign up for conferences on our information table. If your child started after November you may request a conference at a later date.
There are only five children signed up for movie night at this time. Movie night is this Saturday at 5:00. The theme is a Teddy Bear Picnic. Please sign up if you are still interested.
Thank you for remembering snow pant and warm clothes for outdoor play. This has allowed the children to enjoy the outdoors. We will not go outside when the temperature is below twenty degrees.
We are still looking for used crayons for melting in February. Kate Tokarski is the contact person for this activity during vacation. Our wish list now includes valentine stickers, envelopes, glue sticks, tape and doilies.

Hello Everyone,

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving! A new snack list is being distributed today. We will be starting our new schedule when we return after the holiday. When you bring your child to school we will be outside first. Pick up will be inside.

The children have enjoyed learning about the first Thanksgiving. They have also been learning many turkey songs. We hope you enjoy your special Thanksgiving gift and card.

Please remember to check cubby bins for spare clothes. Some of them are empty. We are also still accepting donations of art supplies for our interns. They will be leaving the second week in December.

The weather is starting to get cooler, so please dress your child appropriately. Please make sure your child's cubby box for has clothes for warmer weather.

We are still looking for big pumpkins to carve. We will be carving a special pumpkin prayer. This week we will be telling Halloween stories and playing dress up in our dramatic play area.

Hello All,
The children have been learning the story of The Sick Servant. (Luke 7) This scripture tells us how Jesus healed the captain's servant. The children learned what a servant can do to help others.
They talked about how Jesus loves us and how we have helpers in our houses.

The children have been very excited to see our butterflies that hatched this week. They have also been apple printing and using the story pieces to retell our bible stories. The children will be making centerpieces next week and singing at the senior lunch on October 15. Singing starts at 11:20.

Children's portraits will be taken October 14 and 15. Children's portraits cannot be taken on October 13 due to a scheduling conflict. Family portraits will be taken the night of our potluck dinner. Please bring in sitting fee forms if you are still interested. Don't forget to sign for the Harvest Potluck dinner on October 15.

Hello Everyone,
Looks like we are going to have a soggy week. We will end our day in the youth room if we are unable to go outside. If we are outside be sure to look at our Robin's nest in the climber. The children are watching what will happen to her egg. We have blocked the nest off so the nest remains untouched.

There will be no daily sheets this week. We are working on some special projects with the children. Please look at our bulletin board this week. We have had fun making bug collages. They will go home soon for all to see.

Our story this week is from Genesis 1. This is the story of how God made everything. The children have been using a felt board to help tell the story.

Welcome Back Everyone! We hope you had a good vacation. Remember we are changing our routine of the day starting this week. We will start inside and pick up is outside. On rainy days we will be in the youth room. Please remember to send appropriate outside clothing. We will still have some chilly days.

St. Andrew Church and Preschool will be having a clean up day this Saturday. A flyer is in your mailboxes at school. We will be spreading mulch on our playground and cleaning our classroom. If you are interested a sign up is on the information table.

Hello All,
Thank you to everyone who attented the potluck dinner. It was quite a feast. A good time was had by all. Pastor Lisa has invited all the children to join her for singing on Easter. If you are interested in singing during the Easter service on April 12th at the 11:00 service please sign up on our information table.

We are closed Good Friday, April 10. The following week is April vacation. We will see you again Monday, April 20.

The children have been learning the story, "Make Way For The King " This is the story of Palm Sunday. We will be acting this story out during the week. We will also make our own coconut tree with letters just like in "Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom."

In the dress up area we have added many different hats and dress up clothes. In the block area the farm and animals are out. The children will also be working on more stories and sharing them with the class at the end of the day.

Hello All,
Today the ladies from Hope Circle at church planted friendship seeds with the children. After we watch the seeds begin to grow we will be planting them around the church

The children are learning about their teeth and how to take care of them. We will be using math skills to graph the color of everyones toothbrush. We have a dentist office set up in our classroom. The children are learning a new song called "Use Your Tooth Brush" They will also learn about nutrition. We will be discussing healthy foods and the differences between fruits and vegetables.

Chariho Child Outreach will be screening on Tuesday and Wednesday. Forms are due on the day your child is screened. If your child does not come attend school on the day outreach is scheduled to come please talk to a teacher.

For your childrens' increased safety, we are expanding our rule for pick up time. When bringing siblings at pickup, please hold their hand at all times. If you need an extra hand in getting your preschooler ready, please ask a teacher for help.

Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a good vacation. Please remember the weather is still really cold outside. Please dress your children accordingly. The children will be hearing the story of Money in a Fish from Matthew 17. We will also be fishing for rhyming words while we are camping. There will also be finger painting with special glitter paint. The teachers cannot wait to see their creations.

Conferences will be held on Monday and Tuesday this week. If you cannot make your conference please let a teacher know. We will be having a potluck dinner in March. Last week Pastor Jim came in and taught us some spanish. "Hola" was their favorite. The children have been enjoying making valentine's for their friends. It is great seeing how creative they can be. We are working on decorations for the February senior lunch. We will not be singing this month. The luncheon falls on vacation. We hope everyone is staying warm. The children have been enjoying sledding and making trails in the snow. We even brought snow inside for the texture table. Winter animals and scoops were also added to the table. The children made winter sculptures using glue and mini sugar cubes. It will be tricky getting these home. The story this week is "The Man Who Could Not Talk" from Luke 1.
Registration for next year will be the second week in February. Conferences will be February 9th and 10th. A sign up will be on the information table next week. Have a nice week!!

Hello,
The children are having fun sledding in the snow today. Please put snow pants on your child even if there is no snow on the ground. We would rather they were over dressed than under dressed. The temperature is going to be cold this week and we like to play outside. The children will be listening to the story "It looks like spilt milk" and making their own spilt milk pictures by blowing through a straw. We hope you had a safe and happy holiday. Tomorrow will be our first day back to school. Please dress your child for cold weather (snowpants). If the weather is good we will be sledding and making snow angels in the snow. Christmas Eve was a well attended service. We were very proud of our preschoolers. The cupcakes for Jesus's birthday were a hit. Thank you to Bethanne Jalbert for bringing the extra cupcakes to the warm shelter. Thank you for all the wonderful christmas gifts. I would like to remind everyone that Tuesday is our last day of school. We start a week earlier in the fall so we are able to have the week before Christmas off. Welcome to our new blog. The children have been very busy preparing for the holiday season. Ask your child what the Angels secret was. They were very excited to learn this bible story.
